Western Iowa Dairy Alliance was formed in 2007 to support dairy producers and the dairy industry in western Iowa.
We are your neighbors, your friends, your colleagues. Our kids go to school together. We serve our communities in partnership.
We live on the land we farm, and care about the air, soil, crops, and water, working to preserve and restore it.
We are advocates for the dairy producer and all those who support this industry with commitment and integrity, allowing us to bring the very best, most nourishing product to market every day.
We communicate that message to the consumer effectively.
We have three priority areas:
Public & Community Relations: Western Iowa Dairy Alliance serves as an important link between dairy farm families and consumers. We will work to engage consumers in discussions about the role of dairy products in a healthy diet, as well as share information about modern dairy production. WIDA will also support dairy farmers’ efforts to educate neighbors and rural community members about dairy’s positive contribution to the economy and environment.
Advocacy & Issue Management: WIDA was formed to provide dairy producers with a unified voice in legislative, regulatory and other issues. We will build relationships with local, county, state and federal elected officials and create opportunities for producers to interact and share opinions with officials and representatives. WIDA will also build alliances with dairy and agriculture organizations to serve as a resource for members on important issues.
Information Exchange & Leadership Development: The success of the dairy industry is dependent on continuous improvement of current dairy farms and building the next generation of leaders. We are fortunate to have access to leading university, extension and industry partner experts; WIDA will not duplicate their work but will seek to improve dairy farmer access to existing resources and create new opportunities when appropriate. WIDA will also support high school, college and other training programs to develop future dairy leaders.
